Project Information:

The refurbishment of the second level of Queen Mary’s Hospital involved completely gutting out the entire area and starting from scratch. It was a fast paced project as currently ill children had to be transported to a temporary location whilst the works were being completed. There was also added pressure due to the COVID-19 climate we are in as precious bed space was being taken up. By the end of the job, we had created; Three 4 bed wards, one 3 bed ward, nine 1 bed cubicles; one sluice room, one nurse room, two disabled wet rooms including dock end packed toilets, two WC’s, one en suite toilet, one meeting room, one parents room, a reception area including 3 nurse base stations, one equipment store room, one cleaners cupboard and a treatment room.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new ward refurbishment consisted of the following:

Demolition
New partitions
Installation of new door sets including ironmongery
Duct work configuration
New suspended ceiling and also adaption to existing curved ceiling
Installation of vinyl flooring throughout entire area
Installation of sun reflective film to windows
New heat resistant roller blinds to windows
Three reception desks
Nurse call systems
Security mag lock access control fitted to doors (unlock via smart pads)
Bioclad installation to walls
1^st and ^2nd fix electrical
1^st and 2^nd fix mechanical
Installation of numerous IPS panels
Scaffold erection
Core drilling to allow for a waste connection to the floor below
Medical gas installation (air,vacuum,oxygen)
Decoration works
Shelving installation
Maccerator installation (machine to wash bed pans)
Configuration of existing structural openings (taking out sliding doors and installation architraves)
Cableflow trunking
Worktop installation to several areas
Rendering patch work
MDF boxing to domestic pipework
Cubicle track installation
